Description: Excellent taxidermy specimen of a King eider in a classic north-east minimal style museum case.

Robert Duncan of Pilgrim Street, Newcastle produced cases lacking in vegetation; his work is practically identical to J. Cullingford's, and every bit as good. He signed and dated his cases in pencil, usually inside the top left hand corner of the case, and did not additionally attach a trade label. Dated cases have been seen from the 1862-1909 period. John Hancock refers to him in a letter in 1880 as: 'A good taxidemist, and his father was a good bird stuffer too'.
