William Rochford Hine of Southport, Lancashire is perhaps the best known of the four taxidermists, from various parts of the country, responsible for the mounting and casing of the fine collection of birds formed, mainly during the final three decades of last century, by Lieutenant-Colonel Echalaz. The Waterloo Museum in Liverpool, to whom Echalaz presented the collection, was bombed during the war and some of the cases were damaged or destroyed. The residue can be seen today in the Crosby Library in Liverpool.
