Description: Modern taxidermy specimen of a Hammer-headed bat, one of the strangest looking things in the animal kingdom. It's latin name "Hypsignathus monstrosus" speaks volumes.
The Hammer-headed bat is a 'megabat' and with a wingspan of upto 38 inches it is the largest bat in Africa. Although fruit makes up most of it's diet, the Hammer-headed bat has been observed attacking live chickens.
