Size: Measures approx. 60cm x 87cm x 31cm

Description: This female Argus Pheasant is presented in a Victorian box style case with naturalistic groundwork. The species comes from Borneo, and although it is so spectacular and decorative in appearance, taxidermy specimens are hard to come by, The name 'Argus Pheasant' is derived from the eye-like patterning on the plumage which put early naturalists in mind of the one hundred-eyed giant Argus of Greek mythology.

The scientific name of the Great Argus was given by Carl Linnaeus in reference to the many eyes-like pattern on its wings. Argus is a hundred-eyed giant in Greek mythology.
