Description: Classic taxidermy Fox head by the celebrated Victorian taxidermists P Spicer and sons. Posed head turned to its left. Data plaque reads: "THE CAMBRIDGESHIRE NOV.21st.1911." Also stamped: P SPICER AND SONS LEAMINGTON.

Peter Spicer is regarded by most collectors as the greatest British taxidermist, his work in our opinion has never been bettered. He ran a large taxidermy company in Leamington Spa during the late 19th century and early 20th century before it passed on to his sons. Fox masks such as these were their forte.
