Description: Victorian taxidermy specimen of an albino Swallow, in box-style case with naturalistic ground-work.

Henry Shaw (1812-87), familiarly know as 'Harry', and his brother John Shaw (1816-88) were born in Tarporley, Cheshire. They moved to Shrewsberry as children, and trained in taxidermy under their father, who had a small shop in Shoplatch. After the latter's death, Henry and John ran the family business in partnership for a while, but they later separated. Henry moving into premises at 45, High Street, Shrewsbury. Montagu Browne described both brothers as 'excellent taixdermists'.
